Holidays have arrived! Bike tracks, tents and the outback are exciting, but in three action-packed short stories, nothing goes to plan.
Hamish and Ali decide to ride to the top of Mt Clunie. The track is steep and nothing but potholes and ditches. The boys are puzzled by bare earth and stacks of cut-down trees. A sweaty man falls off his bike to avoid crashing into them. What is going on? What happens to Ali and Hamish’s forest bike ride?
Noah invites Robbie and Kevin camping, but Robbie takes charge. Before hiking to a mysterious hut, they’re warned to stay on the track and beware of Bold Jack Blunder. Exploring near the hut, something chases the boys across the paddock. They run. Who is Bold Jack Blunder, and where did the boys find themselves?
Gussy hopes staying with her grandparents on their sheep station would be fun, but she’s bored. She finds the bottle collection, but there aren’t any treasures. Exasperated, she picks up a bottle and lands at an unusual shop. Bleeding knees tell her it wasn’t a dream. Another bottle, and it’s 1954. Avoiding more time travel, she explores a shed but picks up an old pair of shearing blades. Where does she find herself?
